Ramadan is finally here, and Abu Dhabi is ready to welcome its special traditions! One really cool thing to look out for is the daily firing of cannons at sunset, also called Midfa Al Iftar.
These aren’t ordinary cannons! They’re QF 25-pound cannons that fire empty cartridges to signal it’s time to break the fast. This exciting tradition actually originated in Egypt and made its way to Abu Dhabi in the 1970s, adding a unique and fun twist to Ramadan here in the city.
